I've always wanted to watch these guys since more than 30 years! I finally got to see Metallica with my family last night at Soldier Field Chicago! The show was awesome, and so was the crowd and venue! I definitely had a blast! My only complaint is about the echo that I couldn't hear the band much, but I enjoyed the experience!

They came to my previous country iny 20s, but I didn't get to see them due to financial constraints. I finally got to see them with my mid-20s year old son and 14 year old daughter, and my wife!

What an amazing night to remember!

Excerpts on video are on YouTube:

My son and I saw them for the "Black" album tour at the now gone Palace of Auburn Hills. I walked away with a whole new respect for them because they were such a great live band. Talk about LOUD!! Darn glad I brought earplugs with me that night.

Saw them a few years later at Pine Knob, an outdoor venue. Just as great of a performance. But some in the crowd decided to get stupid and started ripping up chuncks of sod from the hill and thowing them. I even got hit in the head with one of those chunks. I wasn't hurt but I sure wasn't happy about it either. James Hetfield saw what was going on and he was livid with anger. Stopped the song and threatend to stop the concert if this "brain dead activity" didn't stop. No more flying sod after that.

Saw them the first time on the Monsters of Rock tour in Tampa June ‘88. They absolutely killed.

I was at that show too! Tampa Stadium, hotter than the Devil's drawers...

I saw them in Lakeland with Queensryche on the Damaged Justice Tour. Then with GnR in Orlando...

Many times after that, too.

To the OP...glad you got to see them. Metallica are a great live band. I've never seen them with Trujillo on bass. Maybe next time around....

If I remember correctly there was a huge lemon fight in the crowd. People were chucking the lemons from the lemonade they sold and it was a massive free for all. All you saw for a long while was
Flying chunks of lemon.

Also remember Tampa airport coming through George Lynch’s wireless into the PA. Kind of put a damper on Dokkens set.

Good times.

- Monsters of Rock ‘88 in Giants Stadium
- Damaged Justice Tour ‘89 (w/ Queensryche opening)
- Damaged Justice Tour ‘90 (w/ The Cult opening)
- Death Magnetic Tour ‘09

Center stage, second row at the Justice show was one of the greatest (and loudest) experiences ever! Ahh… the days before mosh pits.

Man, I feel old!
- Metallica/GnR July 1992 (my first ever concert! what a way to start)
- Metallica with Corrosion of Conformity 1997
- Summer Sanitarium with Korn/System of a Down 2000

Not many concerts after 2000 due to getting married and life, but these three are all highlights.

I was at that show in 92. Bonner springs.

I Have Been Lucky To See Them In All Of Their Various Lineups. I Would Have To Check But I Think I Have Seen Metallica Live More Times Than Any Other Band I Have Seen.
