This is my second PRS amp, the first didnt take. I'm very hopeful for this one though, it's an Archon 25. All the reviews I've seen have been positive. I do have one question......how long do I need to let it sit in the box to acclimate prior before I can play it? :vroam: :2channelh:

No time, crank that puppy up full blast and those tubes will glow, and also you will glow with the sound it produces :D

Happy New Amp Day!

Thanks, it was a little tongue in cheek reference to the recent thread on a NGD. It'll soon be very warm in the studio as I crank up my 25 watt Archon heater..

Lol. I keep my house a little on the cool side. You should bring it here so it can acclimate for a week or so, then I'll drive it back to you.\

Congrats! I might want to check out one of these myself. Maybe I need an amp instead of a guitar.

I'm getting some pretty good tone from this little guy, I'm sure with time and some serious knob tweaking it'll be happy. Just one complaint so far, it's a noisy SOB on lead channel. On clean it's nice and quiet, but on lead it hisses like crazy. My EVH & HK don't do that.

Any suggestions?

reminds me of the old Peavey 5150 first generation amps that would hiss so badly, it would be white noise. They were ungigable without a serious noise gate.

Yep, I saw those threads too, I knew you were referring to them ;)
Sorry about the hiss on the lead channel, hopefully there is a fix down the road for that.

It shouldn't do that. Sounds like it could be as simple as a preamp tube that went bad during transit.

+1

A simple swap should fix it. It is apparently a well sorted circuit

In 30 years of tube amp experience, I've only had one issue that could not be fixed with a valve swap - turned out to be a bad valve base connection which sent to amp into white noise territory, and was unusable in studio conditions
