I've had my eye on this mahogany neck/BRW fretboard McCarty Wood Library fiddle ever since Jack Gretz got it in a few months back.
I decided to go with my old standby, a McCarty with gloss mahogany neck. This one has the 58/15s I like so much, and the Paul's Guitar bridge with the brass inserts. The whole run is a sonic treat.
I dig the old-school McCarty Burst finish, even though I have a version of it on The Hammer Of The Gods. It's funny, years ago I thought this finish was too ordinary, too "50s," but now I can't seem to get enough of it. Go figure!
I may still get a 594 down the road, but for now this is about as much awesome as I can handle; I couldn't pass it up!
"Look... still has the old tag on, never even played it."
"You've never played...?"
"Don't touch it!"
"We'll I wasn't going to touch it, I was just pointing at it."
"Well... don't point! It can't be played."
"Don't point, okay. Can I look at it?"
"No. no. That's it, you've seen enough of that one."
