So, I had asked the question before about the extra pole pieces in the SE SS that Phil Mcknight pointed out in his tear down video. Someone answered and said they were to reduce hum.

I watched the Live Event yesterday, and someone asked about the sound of the pickups in the SE SS. Paul quickly and coyly mentioned that they put "extra pieces of metal" in the pickups to give them a vintage sound. He then quickly changed the subject.

Any one else catch this? Thoughts?

There is a hint of secrecy about what PRS are doing with their pickup builds.

Understandably so, because this is an area, like others where they use their R&D to potentially step ahead of the competition.

Any business that doesn’t use the model of constant improvement will be likely to fall behind in sales in this current market.

It’s what makes PRS guitars even more desirable to those who taste the Kool Aid.

I have a friend who for the last 20 years has been “die hard” G fan. Recently he has purchased an SE CU24, which has relegated his LP and SG to the guitar rack.

As a kid I lusted after the F and G guitars. In ‘14 I bought one of each of my dream guitars. There was a Custom 24 hanging on the wall when I bought my first guitar, it was beyond beautiful. I wasn’t interested though, I never played it and never heard of the brand. Then in ‘15 I bought one. Well, 4 PRS later and my F and G sit in their cases and I grab a PRS almost every time I play. My heart wants a PS Hollowbody II Piezo with a killer flamed and stained neck. I hate trading in guitars, even the ones I don’t play.
