Anyone else here getting an abundance of calls from who knows who? It was really bad late last year, seemed to taper down to the point of nothing in January and now it's slowly ramping back up. I never answer these calls and they never leave a message, but I think I now have more blocked numbers in my phone than actual contacts. Whoever they are they're no doubt asking for money for one thing or another and I'm sure most are total scams.

Mail too. Can't believe how many charities and political organizations want money these days. I'm not rich by any means but I do give here and there to established local food banks but that's it. All the rest goes right into my paper shredder.

I've been surprised how often when I answer, they don't say anything. What was the point of calling? If I don't answer, they never leave a message.
Too late, the nanobots have now invaded your brain, straight through your cellular network. Try tinfoil next time. ;)

Very rarely I'll get a "voicemail" from them but all I can hear is office chatter in the background. Then they hang up. Good!

Just extend your car warranty already and the calls will stop. Unless you need to fix your Windows computer or talk to the police about avoiding arrest.
Oh, I get those warranty notices in the mail constantly which promptly go in the shredder.

Once I got a message saying my student loan payments were way behind. (Hmm, never sent to college.)

Got another voicemail a while back and this guy was livid over how much trouble I was in with the law and if I didn't call back they would issue a warrant for my arrest. I just laughed and thought "come and get me!"

I remember one call that didn't turn out the way the caller hoped. We were getting numerous calls about upgrading the siding on our house. I finally told the guy to come out and check things out. I watched him pull up, shake his head, and drive off. We live in a townhouse. Never got another call about siding.

Another "fun" thing we used to do was answer the call in a hushed voice and say, "I told you I'd call when it was done. I can't believe how much blood there is" and then hang up.

I answer, wait for the robo-speak to end, and have Slayer's "Angel of Death" ready, desktop monitors' volume up high - then hit the poor unsuspecting sap with an assault of metal. Usually does the trick . And if that doesn't work, we follow up with "God Hates Us All."
Don’t need a robocall for that.;)
S.O.P.

I don't need caller id to warn me "Scam Alert" or "Spam Risk", I know a call is fraud because ... my phone is ringing!

Funny thing happened on my last PRS purchase: The store used a 'Fraud Protection' service to confirm the purchase and shipping address. Well, the 'Fraud Protection' service showed up on my caller id as "Scam Alert" and we had quite the conversation about why a legitimate fraud protection company can't update their caller id with carriers so the customers aren't warned they are the true fraud, then I hung up. I was laughing through the entire call. The concerned/panicked vendor called pretty quick to assure me the 'Fraud Protection' company was in fact legit. Laughing at the irony of the situation after my last purchase mishap, and getting a good story to tell, are almost as fun as actually getting a new PRS. :D

That's no way to treat a forum brother! I've tried to call you hundreds of times with a once in a lifetime business opportunity. Now that you know it's me, please answer next time!

One time I took one of the Windows support calls and just played along. "Type this...do this..." Doesn't seem to be working. Kept it up for 5-10 minutes, then I finally said, "How stupid do you thing I am?" Told the dude I knew it was a scam. "No sir, it's not a scam..." I said, "Not only do I know it's a scam, it's a well-known scam. If you could see my computer had an issue, you wouldn't need to me to do all this crap, and besides all that, I'm not running a Windows computer."

But the king...

My sister who is an MD and not stupid fell for one of those scams a couple of years ago. They claimed to be from the local sheriff's office and that she missed a date for jury duty and there was a warrant for her arrest unless she paid using $1,000 worth of gift cards. At least it was only $1,000, but it was a hard lesson for her.

I find the T-Mobile Scam Shield app works...somewhat.

Aside from the car warranty crap, I've been getting a lot of calls from 'bank numbers' claiming my Coinbase account is compromised.
