In my previous thread I asked What makes a great song in your opinion? Well in this thread lets show examples of what a Great Song is.
My First example is Purple Rain by Prince,
To me this song has it all Great Lyrics and Melody that create an Emotional Response and a Kick Ass Guitar Solo

Ha! You beat me to it, Les. That song is an absolute masterpiece.

Below are my two recommendations, both are from the prog rock world and are examples of truly outstanding writing & performance IMHO.
