It’s super duper early but I had to get up and compile a list of everything I can think of to make me the best at playing my musical song choices.

Can anyone think if anything else??

I know a lot of the rhythm parts in a lot of their songs but it’s the solos. How do you eat an elephant? I know, one piece at a time. I have got 30 or more solos to learn as close to his playing as I can get. It calls for a little improvisation and that’s so much fun.

My mission shall I exceed is to go to the beach next year and put on a real show even if it means I am playing to backing tracks. Idc.

I just have to do this. Obsessed actually. Roller skating will be no longer an activity with winter coming soon so I will have copious amounts of time to hone my craft. I have to get a job too. 1 or 2 days a week for my mental sanity. That gives me 5 other days to practice.

I don’t really know what happened to me but I wasn’t picking up my guitar for my mini marathons but I am back and will be better then ever.

I am strutting with confidence. I want to be that peacock that walks the walk. Not in an arrogant way. I just want have complete command over what I am doing.

I really tried to get that duck walk down but almost fell over. I used our long hallway to practice but my SG just wanted to keep doing a neck dive. It deserves a beautiful new strap and that’s exactly what I am going to get for it. I have gift cards galore. This is exciting, a new strap. The baby deserves some new strings too. I am going to look at some wireless transmitters so I don’t have to carry everything on the deck with me or if I am flying around on stage playing. No more cords to deal with. Can anyone recommend some decent transmitters. Something that doesn’t break the bank.

I use the same string exactly as Angus does. 9/42’s. Not terribly important but to me it sort of is.

His phrasing is impeccable and his attack is something I won’t manage to accomplish. I have to figure out away to come as close as possible.

And I promise you that whatever song I complete I will showcase here. Feedback is such a superb yardstick to use against my playing. Yes, we all have our own styles but I really need to pick up on their vibe.

I am looking into some patches right now for my Katana.

I am in the right place at the right time.

Ppl have a superb day because YOU deserve it! ❤️

I will take pictures of where I am going to play. I probably have about 2000 square feet to run around an play.

Lola, you mentioned your SG does the neck dive. Don't know if you've gotten a new strap for it, but I use a 3" wide leather strap with my SG's.
The leather is textured in such a way so it has a bit of grip on your shoulder. No neck dive at all. At first I tried a nylon type strap that wasn't as wide and yeah, instant neck dive.

Good luck with your musical quests. Your list covers everything that I should be practicing as well!

So do we have another ACDC fan?

I am looking at straps but don’t know whether to get a suede less slippage or a smooth leather strap. I will just take my guitar with me and see! I just a beautiful 3” wide strap. On my way to check it out along with my guitar.

I didn’t realize but I have almost $350 in GC’s

I like the leather straps too. PRS has a great sale on the Buffalo leather ones at $30 bucks... grippier than smooth, but comfortable. Add some strap locks, and you're good. Don't want to do this:

BTW - Listen to what Angus AND Malcolm do. Their combined sound is AC/DC's secret weapon... working class geniuses, those two.

Oh heck yeah I like ACDC! I can't remember the names of some of their most recent songs from a year or two ago but I really like them!

Yes, take your guitar with you when you try out straps. That way there's no doubt.

Another things I found about SG's was the usage of Strap-Locks. SG's have a tendancy of leaning away from you and I found with a Strap-Lock the guitar leaned even further away from me. But then maybe it was the style of locking sytem that I used. So I abandoned that and just use the strap.

Gotta go! Things to do today!

To share an alleged quote of Angus: „I'm sick and tired of people saying that we put out 11 albums that sound exactly the same. In fact, we've put out 12 albums that sound exactly the same.“

ACDC kept their sound throughout the decades, though they had changes within the members. Their music is straight and true. Personnaly I prefer Brian Johnson as their singer.
And I was surprised by his different voicing being on of the co-singers of Sting's The last ship and Slash's recent solo album.
It's worthwhile to focus on the precise rhythm guitar, which is like a powerful locomotive.

It Is All In The Rhythm And Precise, Clean Chord Changes Which Isn't Easy To Do And Have It Right. A Lot Of Precision And I Like To Call It Restrained Attitude. The Timing...The Breathability Sprinkled Throughout The Songs...The Muting...The Sheer Power And Controlled Out Of Control Aspect. There Is Far Far Far More To It Than Simply D - A - G. AC/DC Is A Well Oiled Machine.

Listen to what Angus AND Malcolm do.
And try out some 12/58's like Malcolm used to exercise your fingers and fingertips.

AC/DC was my favorite band for years. My brother and I saw them at least a half dozen times including one where we in the second or third row, but their best sound was the tour after Razors Edge when Chris Slade was on drums. A killer concert.

April 2025 marks my triumphant return to playing what I love in public. This will be my home all summer long. I have decided not to start another band, not to travel to the ends of the earth anymore and like I said it’s now or never. This is just a beautiful venue with Lake Ontario in the distance. Who knows who I will meet.

I did go to Long and Mcquade to check out their straps. There was a beautiful one in carved leather $100 but it had a Western motif on and there was an ACDC one. My guitar and music speak for themselves. If you don’t know who I am playing well that sucks for you. I am going to another store tomorrow. I find that when I was dancing and playing last night did a spin no matter what direction my guitar took a dive to the left hand side. A new wide strap is the answer.

I hereby dub this location "Piazza De Lola"! LMK when the tickets go on sale!!

You guys all know about this. I haven’t told another soul. I set my standards really high. I have been practicing 3-5 hours every night. This is a lot to learn. I am cutting ppl off that waste my time. I need to practice as much as possible. I really hate my SG atm because of the neck dive. Hopefully that will get solved tomorrow. I have a nylon strap locks but they’re useless.

I have purpose and one of the biggest goals in my playing history. It just doesn’t get any better this! I just can’t stop be over the top happy. Ppl are starting to wonder about me. As if they didn’t before! Lol

It’s all for rock n roll!

And… thank you for being the most amazing and supportive bunch of ppl. ❤️❤️🫶🏻

@Moondog Wily 😁

I honestly don’t even know where to start. Maybe don’t worry and just play each song and makes notes about my strengths and weaknesses in each song an to know where I need to practice and emphasize.

Or….

Does someone have a better idea? Pls and thx.

Whatever you do, don't let anything stop your slow you down. Even the wrong path can have flowers blooming!

You know my musical style pretty well, so I am not one who is going to preach to you about how this that or the other thing does not sound just like the original. My view is, if someone wants to hear the original, go listen to the original. If you want to listen to me do this song, this is how I roll. So the point is, I would encourage you (and anyone else) to find a way to play it like YOU like it. I know many do not agree, but that is my philosophy on the topic. I am not trying to duplicate another artist, I am an artist making music, and sometimes it is other peoples music with my own spin. Would not have it any other way in my little Universe.

Long and short, give it the best you, but don't think you need to be just like them to deliver the goods!

Already on it. I am watching Sara and how she’s managing some of the more intricate solos and she’s not playing them exactly note for note. In some parts of some songs I can hear the difference but it’s not so discernible that you would say it’s not an ACDC song. I am analyzing her fret work. Her songs are so close snd that’s good enough for me. If I can go note for note then I will if not then I will make up something that suits the songs and my skill set. Lots of really excellent double stops. Gotta love it. My heart is going to burst out of my chest I am ecstatic!

Nothing gets you developing like actually gigging. The whole “one shot at each song” really focuses your mind. And it’s such fun, so many good vibes. Just remember that the audience wants to be entertained. They want you to play. They’re already pulling for you. Just let it go, and go for it. Practice is valuable, playing for an audience (any audience) is priceless. Go get ‘em!
