Ever just not bond with a PRS?

This popped up in my "memories" over on social media. I looked at it and realized that, although it was a really great guitar, it was the only PRS that I just somehow didn't bond with. It played and sounded nice. I mean, it had Dragon 1s in it. It hit all the checkmarks that I look for in a PRS guitar. But, somehow, it just didn't quite get me there.

Maybe it was the top, that even though it was quilted and a 10 top, I couldn't quite see in lighting that was any dimmer than what is in this pic. Maybe it was the Zebra pickups (which have never been my thing). It was hot, but easily tamed down a bit with a roll off on the volume, but somehow, I had difficulty finding that sweet spot. When I played it, it just didn't give me that butterflies in the stomach feel that I have had with all of my other ones.

I ended up selling it to someone who absolutely loves it and still uses it to record. But, sometimes, a guitar can be as individual as a person as far as how you get along.

Anyone else ever experience this.

(pic below was when I took it in for a setup and a once over)

Not trying to start a flame war here. And I am DEFINITELY not trolling. Just putting it out there.

Just the one so far and it killed me to admit as it was a stunning WL axe but the sounds with if I remember correctly 85/15 pups just didn't do it for me at all
So off to a new owner it went.

Now that's totally different from the ones I have moved on just because I wanted something else for purely selfish reasons...lol.

Yes. I’ve had a few different CE22 models (all from the 90s’). Don’t know what it was about them, just couldn’t get along with them.
I also had a 90s CE...got it for a steal, gorgeous green top. I didn't have it that long, so guess it didn't gel. It happens with all kinds of guitars. Sometimes you don't know what you don't want until you have it.

I'm in an unusual situation for this one... As my time is short , I spent the last few years collecting bucket list instruments, all are quite amazing and I try to sit down with each one for a few days at a time. Some have taken longer to really bond with , some are VERY amp specific , others sound amazing no matter what.

To me Guitars are like people, and sometimes it takes a while to get to know all about their secret talents.....

As a Luthier and collector I am extremely picky about what I select , so no regrets other than not enough time to really get to know all of them as much as I'd like to .

Heck I remember a friends old Silvertone ( from Sears) just a trashy little slab with filtertron style pickups , it had am oddball sound but played well , and somehow everybody liked it because of it's quirkyness. The regular players had PRS and a 56 LP black beauty ( I played bass)

Custom 22 Artist - it was gorgeous, played amazing after Skitchy did a set up at the dealer I bought it at. The neck pickup was the best sounding I've ever heard in a humbucker guitar. The maple neck added just enough presence that it was deep and rich, without any hint of mud.

The problem - 22 frets! I just can't connect to anything but a 24. Sold it when I relocated with a bunch of other gear a few years back.
