Eventide was among the few companies that created great sounding digital gear a long time ago. In the early '90s I bought an H3000 d/se for my studio, and it was a wonder-box. I used it for all kinds of multi-effects; delays, pitch shifts, reverb sounds, modulations...and it's become something of a sought-after studio classic.
Of course I sold it when I decided to go 'in the box' in 2010 or so. That was pretty stupid.
A few years ago they came out with an H3000 plugin with the algorithms used in the H3000 hardware. It's quite good.
They recently came out with the Mark II version. I waited for the upgrade to go on sale, and bought it for not much money yesterday. I think it sounds the business, and has a few nice tweaks to the interface and a ton of new presets.
The Mark II plugin is also on sale for new users. It works like the H3000, only you can get inside the algorithms with patch cords like the ones on virtual modular synths and really mess with them, if that's your thing.
I think there's a free trial period. If you like classic studio sounds - for example the 'micropitch' preset was a studio staple on a TON of famous records made over the years, because it very subtly enriches the tone of a solo - you might be interested in this plugin.
