I expect some will disagree with me, but I would not buy spare tubes right now. Thanks all. It’s for a Mesa mkV 25, I think the Mesa tubes are JJ anyway? I want a spare set, just in case. I know it is a warranty violation. My thoughts, I’ve got them if I need them, until Mesa is finally back in stock.
I have to respectfully disagree with you, especially if you play professionally (for money, I mean). Things fail, and you have to be ready. As I tell bandmates, we’re paid to make music, not excuses. It’s just bad business to do that sort of work “without a net.” Besides, if you’ve been playing that amp regularly for 9 years (especially if you push it hard), you might be amazed at the improvement a new set of power tubes will make. Replace them before they fry and you’ll get a set of spares at no additional cost!I expect some will disagree with me, but I would not buy spare tubes right now.
Tube prices are much higher than normal. If you buy tubes now, then you guarantee you're overpaying for tubes.
If you wait until you have a problem and then buy tubes, it's very very very likely that tubes will be cheaper and the tubes you want will be back in stock. Tubes usually last for a really long time. Especially if you don't play at gig volumes.
I own 0 spare tubes. My amp is from 2013 and still has the original tubes in it. I'm cool as a cucumber. If a tube fails then I'll have to deal with it, but until then I'm waiting until Western Electric tubes are released.
Probably a safe strategy for me. I do want a set of EL84’s though. I’ve started using a Freyette PS2, and I tend to boost the master up a ways.I expect some will disagree with me, but I would not buy spare tubes right now.

I’m not a gigging musician. If I was, I’d already have spares! Belt and suspenders if you do it for money!I have to respectfully disagree with you, especially if you play professionally (for money, I mean). Things fail, and you have to be ready. That will be great!
To the OP, I’ve dealt with Eurotubes for many years, and use their tube testers and dampener rings as well. I’ve always been very satisfied with their products and service.
Very fair. I definitely intended my advice for bedroom guitarists.I have to respectfully disagree with you, especially if you play professionally (for money, I mean). Totally get that. With low power usage, even power tubes last a long, long time.Very fair. I definitely intended my advice for bedroom guitarists.
In my case, I bought the amp used 2 years ago. I don't play very loud. I'm holding out for Western Electric and then I'll put fresh tubes in.
I have enough spare output tubes to go for a long while.I expect some will disagree with me, but I would not buy spare tubes right now.
