Veneer though........checked with store
But is it a veneer of the fancy wood over a plain version of the same wood (i.e. exactly parallel to current SEs with quilted/flamed maple tops, which would allow that wood type to express its unique tonality), or is it a veneer of that exotic wood over plain maple (which means it offers no tonal difference, just aesthetics)?

This is from the swamp ash page on a British store site...

Thanks toothace. That's too bad - IMHO, if the top is going to look like a certain wood, I'd expect it to be that wood for more than just a veneer, just for the possibility if tonal variety.

The SE guitars are really good but with a veneer or solid top I am not sure they are the right ones to be expecting minute tonal differences from the top woods. They are awesome bang for the buck but a pickup swap would do more l expect than whether or not the top is solid.

Because they're mahogany with no maple cap, there should be an audible tonal difference. Any sound reports out there ?

Saw some of these last Friday at the PRS, Bernie Marsden Meet.
Must admit I was Sooooooo tempted! Good job I had the Mrs with me!!!

These are cool. I like them a lot more than the "reclaimed wood" series.
Europe and Japan get some nice stuff.
For all those whining about a veneer, these guitars cost under a $1,000 ... give them a break ... geez.

Not at all whining....just making clear what was unclear 3rd party advertising.

Everyone knows maple veneer on actual maple cap is a good combo of looks and sound, so it appeared that some of them were a good veneer on top of a cheaper cap of same type of wood, ie not maple cap or whole mahogany

They are at a higher price point than regular korean SEs over here.... which made me sit up and have a look

I'd like to see a korina reboot of an SE
