I have seen these advertised in my guitar magazines.
Not sure how they compare to my Cobalts I run on all of my guitars though.

Check out the guitar Paul is using.

I run EBs too, mainly because I don't break them and I can't get PRS strings (cheaply) here.

I'm a bit skeptical of this comparo tho, he's definitely picking/strumming harder in some of the clean sections which makes it hard to hear the real difference.

That is what some of the comments said there too.

You know, since getting back into guitars again April of 2012, I have not broken one string on any of my six guitars.
Maybe EB is onto something.

I use to break strings often back in the early 70s.

WTH???? I always break strings. I get two shows out of a set then I had better get a new set on. I'm heavy handed so it's kind of my fault.

I bend hard too, and sometimes strum pretty hard.
Might be the locking tuners that help since there are no wraps around the tuners peg?
I do not know, all I know is I am very happy at not breaking any strings.

In almost 40 years of playing, I don't think I've ever broken a string unintentionally. And I don't baby guitars, either...Pete Townshend is one of my favorites :-). I have a friend that snaps them like twigs, and he doesn't play any harder than I do...actually, he probably has a lighter touch, and uses more flexible picks, too.

My sweat must not be very acidic, and there are no rough spots on my guitars' nuts and saddles, I guess. Not complaining, I just think it's interesting.

Where do they break? nut bridge or in the middle somewhere?
My bud used to break strings all the time, he had such corrosive sweat, he had stripped the plating off his Gibson within 3 months...and I mean totally stripped where ever his hands touched.

On topic, I have used D'addarios, Rotosound, Picato, Dean Markley, EB's and GHS, DR's etc, cant tell a difference at all, strings are strings..... maybe i'm blessed maybe i'm cursed. I use D'addario cos they have coloured ball ends and its easier to work out which string is which lol.

I tried the M-steels for a week and swapped back to snake oils as I didn't like the feel of them. They felt stiff and sticky to me. Maybe that was because they are made of steel. Guess steel strings are not for me.

I almost always break at the saddle. Sometimes at the tuning peg but that doesn't happen very often. I realize that I tend to play too hard but I use .50 picks so I would think that would soften the blow a little. I usually break A,D or G and I don't really notice my sweat stripping the plating off either.

i have been a main eb user with dadarrios on 1 or 2 guitars--i like the 9.5 on my studio. I have tried the new m steel and have to say they are louder, but what harder on my nails. they are grinding the hell out of them. so, I will be switching back to cobalts/regular ebs.

rom that vid I prefer the tone of the regular Slinky's, but generally I use pure nickel strings (mostly PRS because they have they have the 9.5's and a 10 set with a .046 low e - the D'Addario set has a .044 low e). For the past couple of weeks I've been using EB pure nickel 10's on my SE245 and really liking the results, maybe worth trying the slinkys to see what they sound like. I have not tried a set in many years.
