I love this place, everybody should know that by now. We have the finest members, intelligent content, the most beautiful guitars, a Super-Duper mod staff, insider access to see what the PS team is up to, (Hell, even Paul is a member!) .... and some of the worst (and totally redundant) emoticons of any guitar forum.

Before you get all upset with that last statement and say "who cares?" think about what an important role emoticons (smileys) play in our life, I am a firm believer that much of the discourse that can occasionally appear on here could be thwarted with a revised emoticon list.

Had there been a Dancing Banana emoticon during the "Great Gimmetry Wars of 2012" countless lives could have been saved by the levity it brings wherever it appears. Similar casualties in other recent, and with wounds still too fresh to acknowledge by name here, conflicts could have been avoided by the inclusion of the "Beating a Dead Horse" or "Hiding Behind the Couch" emoticons... We're talking about saving lives here people!

Think about international members for which english is a second language and the less-educated among us, people like me, who count on emoticons to convey their true intent of sarcasm, and to convey their gasconading circumlocution but are unable to do so without looking up those really big words. How about when the reptilian overlords from the fifth dimension come down from the spaceship moon to enslave the human race? They can read our minds Yo!!! We're gonna be screwed if our survival depends on the only communication tools that they can't comprehend (emoticons) has two "Waving Guy" smileys!

Take a look at these: :p Don't these both mean :p ? Why isn't one of these gone and replaced with "Vomit Chicken" or something?

What about these: :D:biggrin:

And these: :o C'mon! They're the same thing! They may mean two entirely different things, but look exactly the same.

 and ;) One of these looks dope and fills my heart with joy, the other looks like a sad thrift store wink.

I know that this is a relatively new forum, and I know James works his callipygous ass off (even on vacation!) to keep us running everyday, for which I am extremely grateful, I'm just tryin' to spruce the place up a bit and give it that :girl: touch.

Oh, and if at all possible when that time comes that I eventually "stroke out" from too much smoking and alcohol, it would be really helpful if there was a "Bangin'" and "Happy Birthday" smiley for me to use.

Think about international members for which (I'm sure that should be whom Ed.) english is a second language.

Does that include anyone not actually from England (OK, UK to be politically correct) where the true English language comes from?

Just kidding.

+1 to more emoticons, I've seen a need for a few recently. Perhaps a carousel symbol and 'let me off now' for topics that just go round and round endlessly and pointlessly. Or perhaps a 'just shoot me now' thing.

In a world of 'l337' speak, I just want to go on record saying that I appreciate your propensity for proper punctuation, spelling, diction and general language use. :congrats: Dood, yous fuggin' ro><0rz and r hte sh*tz.:iamconfused:

See how much more communicative proper emoticons would have been? I'm with Serge...we need a smilie booster-pack.

What about these: :D:biggrin:

I kind of like the fact that the emoticon page makes me evaluate for a few minutes. Was I ROFLMALO? Or did I only have a big grin? Was I only mildly amused and slightly smiling, or were the corners of my mouth slightly lower? I have to choose carefully, because there is an emoticon particular to each.
One I could use on here is one I see on a football forum I visit: Beating a Dead Horse. That should be in the stable for any internet forum.

I'll forward James a link to this thread. He's the only one with the ability to add emoticons/smileys.

Seems to me that the whole luxury brand thing you refer to needs different kinds of emoticons.

How about an "OMFG, would ya look at that flame/quilt!" emoticon?

Etc.

Some places even host thousands. I could have used these a few times in the last 17 months.

This Forum Rocks. Look at all the extras! Smileys just for asking. Repairs made during vacations. And even as I type now, the cursor magically and courteously advances to show where my next letter will go. Impressive.
