Either this guy doesn't know what he has, or something's fishy...

My guess is that he got his photos mixed up in the listing, if you look at the sellers' other listings he also has a Santana up for sale and it's the same headstock in the photo.

"The serial number starting with 2 means 1992 and the rest of the number represents this as the 71, 624th guitar made in that year."

ummm.... no.

10,153 core models manufactured in 1992 according to the website, not over 72, 000.

I can't decide if the seller is dense or if they just aren't very good at English.

Maybe his grammar/clarity is off, and he meant to write:

The serial number starting with 2 means 1992 and the rest of the number represents this as the 71, 624th guitar ever made, which was made in that year.

Which is still wrong for a CE serial number.

I think most likely it is actually a 2002 Custom 24, and the Santana headstock pic is a mistake. The details don't point to it being a CE.

Would Sergio buy a PS CU24 with a Santana neck for $1800?

EDIT: I just want to know what it takes to get sergio into a CU24

Answer to question one: Yes. Yes, I would buy any PS for $1800.

Answer to question two: Vintage Yellow, wings, a sweet switch, a small logo, and the money to buy it without getting distracted by something else.

yup.

New pics. Definitely not a CE.

So, how comfortable are you guys buying from someone who doesn't know what they have or what they are talking about?

That kind of stuff makes me nervous and starts my scam meter twitching.

Eh, I buy from GC all the time :p

jk!

I used to. I bought enough there for the manager to recognize me when I came in.

I went in once and he stops me, "Hey, you only come in here when we are having a sale." He wasn't joking, he was actually angry with me. Instead of talking with him about it and explaining the concepts of good pricing and customer appreciation, I said, "You're right," turned on my heel and went out the door I came in.

That was about 15 years ago. I haven't been back.

Actually, I was under the impression that the serial number on a Core model was the year code, plus the other number representing the total number of PRS Cores made in total, not in that particular year.

For example, PRS is up to somewhere in the 225-250,000 range. I don't think they make that many Cores in a year.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.
