Early 2000's McCarty's

Okay gang, I need schooled in the ways of early 2000's McCartys. I've got a line on one locally, but have never played a McCarty IRL. What do I need to look for going in? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Another thing, I noticed some McCarty's have stamped serial numbers and some have hand written. So how do I know I'm not buying a fake as this will be a private sale?

Rosewood necks are typically stamped. Mahogany will be written.

I can’t really say what to look for. I know I really like my early McCarty, which I bought new.

If the McCarty you’re lookin’ at has a stamped serial number and it isn’t a rosewood neck: RUN

I'm planning on pulling the back cover to check pots and wiring, anything I need to look for specifically? I'd also like to pull the neck pickup as well to see what's in the cavity and what's on the pickup, but we'll see if he'll go for that.

Yes and yes. My Mira has a Pattern Thin, but my One has the wide fat and lately it gets about 90% of the PRS playing time. Honestly though, after few minutes of playing either guitar, I really don't notice the neck profile.

I found mine locally on CL. Left work to see it and was back in about 1 hour. The price was way too good to be true. I spent less than 5 minutes there after seeing it.

That's kinda how this is setting up to go down. I really wasn't looking for another guitar, I just got my Gretsch back in October, but this was just too good an opportunity not to take a run at it, ya know?
