Hi all;

I spent the afternoon ripping some DVD's and other sources into individual songs for my ipod. It's so much better to be able to watch the videos.
One of the sources was "Farewell Tour 1" by the Eagles. Man, what a fabulous DVD.
Gotta love Joe Walsh ... Brought out every "guitar face" in the standard repertoire and portended fashion by 10 years, wearing pajama bottoms and rubber boots.

Anyhow, to the point. I guess Frey and Henley were on the outs with Felder ... some other guitarist playing (man, he is excellent).
Love that he plays with a thumbpick for much of the time.

I think that he might have played a "lawsuit" SC on "All She Wants To Do Is Dance".
It also looked that he was playing a PRS on "Already Gone".

You would think with all the money I've dropped on PRSi, that I could recognize one when I see it, but not so much.
If any of the experts here can cast a discriminating eye on the video, that would be cool.

Cheers!

Eagles are indeed fantastic. If it weren't for Joe Walsh, I wouldn't be playing guitar. Hearing that 2nd solo in Hotel California lit a fire under me still burning today. I dig Don Felder too but I like Joe's playing the most. I'm not a technician and am not interested in a bunch of theory. I'm more of a Walsh, Page, Perry, Richards kind of player in that raw bluesy playing is what I'm about... I'm not a shreddy kind of player. I more replicate the other bluesier stuff and I choose to go down that path.

As a guy who is all about recreating records live, they take the cake in terms of perfectionism and musicianship. I'm not an improv guitar player or a songwriter. My niche is replicating stuff from records live either in a cover band (mostly) or occasionally as a sideman.

The new guy is Steuart Smith, a Nashville cat who is mostly a studio guy but has played for guys like Rodney Crowell over the years. Great fingerpicker and pinch harmonic technique.

Right now the only PRS in Joe's arsenal is a Mira that he uses for slide on Heartache Tonight. Steuart has one that he plays too, can't remember which song. Saw them last year on the History tour. Incredible show - my favorite and I've been to several.

Yes, this concert was from 2004 and they were in fine fettle. Strong vocals, impeccable musicianship, incredible sound, well over two hours.
What really made the concert for me was that they were so obviously enjoying themselves and having fun. It's infectious (in a good way).
It was Steuart that i thought might have been playing those PRSi. Because of the lighting, I couldn't get a real good look at them.
He mostly played a MusicMan and Strat, but IMHO the guitar he used in "Already Gone" rocked ... ate the others' lunch, if you will :proud:.

Already Gone is probably my favorite tune to play live. Such a good rocker and upbeat. And I love uptempo stuff like that.

The guitar on Already Gone was a P90 equipped PRS. I got one myself recently and am still in love with it. Just another color to paint with.
