Duelling 594s/DG30 Clip

Very informative comparison. Thanks for posting.

Now that you've compared apples to apples with the amp settings do you think the DC30 set this way gives the best for both guitars or would you have to tinker around a bit to get the best amp setting for each guitar separately?

How about if you used the HX/DA as the test amp instead?

Divine tone from both Les, I aspire to coax the same tone as yours someday, thx for posting.

Hey, G, the tone’s easily obtained! Get a 594, play it through a DG30, and there you are. Guaranteed good sound.

Plus you’re probably a better player than I am; most here can play circles around me.

Very good question! The main thing I’d tinker with are the mic placement and the presence control. I think the recording of the humbucker part could be less bright, but still cut nicely. So next time I’d move the mic a little more toward the edge of the speaker cone, and cut the presence a tad.

I’ll do an HXDA test soon. Meantime, here’s the McCarty and the HXDA in a track that’s going to get a vocal at some point. There’s a solo in the middle, but I like the rhythm sounds throughout, There are no pedals on this track except delay, however, the very first intro guitar is treated with a Moog filter and some other tricks. ;) The gain changes were 100% controlled by the guitar’s volume control. And yes, I spend too much time alone in my basement.

Nice examples. Now, what about the M side of the amp scale? Does the HXDA preserve the tonal space of each guitar, like the DG30? (I admit this is more of a setup and rhetorical question :D)

It does. I’ll do a new piece to demonstrate in the next few days.

righteous rhythm track Les, did you cut the solo using both pups and rolling the tone to 2-3? that was very sweet.

Unfortunately, It's not in the card to obtain one of them very soon but hopefully in mid to late 2018, as for my playing?

I do take inspiration from your simple and the point arrangement, Thank you Les.

No, I used the bridge pickups on both guitars, with the tone around 8, and the volume around 7-8.
