Dry Winter Hands

Dumb question - it's that time of year when I start to get super dry hands, need to moisturize all the time or they will crack and bleed...all over my precious PRSi. Which I do not want.

Is there any product or ingredient that is BAD for things like rosewood necks / fingerboards etc that one SHOULD NOT use because it could react to or in some way harm those types of woods?

I have the same problem. I use hand moisturizer all winter, but I wash it off my hands before I play. Then I reapply it after I'm done playing.

So it's on my hands for long enough that they don't get cracked, and for the few hours in the day I need to play, my hands aren't loaded with goop.

I keep my guitars in a humidified room, but I'm looking into a more up-to-date whole house furnace humidifier, because lack of humidity is the source of the problem.

I use Jack Black Face and Body Lotion. No animal testing, it's sold at my favorite department store, and it seems to work pretty well for me without being greasy. My skin is dry. I am a lizard.

I highly recommend this:

I've been using it for almost 2 years and it's amazing!

Remember to use lotion that says non scented, not scent free. Scent free products add a chemical to mask the scent. If you are having problems with dry skin then look at your water consumption as we tend to not drink enough water in the winter . If your hands get really bad then apply baby oil, put rubber gloves on and soak in hot water. That will soften them up.

Diabetic here, dry skin goes hand in hand with my condition . Oh I'm also medically trained....lol

I use Nivea for men, no problems here.

Thanks for the suggestions...

So I guess that there are no "known bad" substances for rosewood necks / fretboards generally found in moisturizers...as long a I wash my hands before I play, all should be well...
