I recently picked up a 2003 CE22 w/ Dragon IIs. I immediately swapped the bridge pickup for a Dragon I I had. HUUUGGGE improvement. Curious if there’s a big difference between a D1 bass versus a d2. Trying to decide if I should pursue a D1.

A DI is just a four conductor uncovered McCarty bass pup.

So if you’re looking to save a few bucks and don’t need rotary compatibility you can get one of those cheap.
Thank .. I recall reading that somewhere. Right now I still have the rotary switch in the guitar.

Yup, the best that I can figure out about the lineage of PRS pickups.. I still think--based on evidence that I have correlated--that the D1, McCarty, and DII bass pickups are all essentially the same (excepting the uncovered nature of the first one). So, by swapping your DII bridge to a D1, you've essentially got a D1 set in there now. Only difference would be the cover on that bass pickup.
