What's a cowboy chord??

A cowboy chord is any chord that uses open strings (and less fingers). It usually refers to the simpler chords played close to the nut, but would include the same chord shapes close to a capo.

They are somewhat derisively named because of their simplicity and their reminiscence of simple sing along strumming around a campfire.
