Does the Thinline 594 sound like the SE Hollowbody ii?

Hi there,
I have had a SE Hollowbody 2 for a year and love it. I had a singlecut "lawsuit" 2001 for many years, but it was too dark for me, so I traded it for a Heritage 535. It's my 50th bday, so my wife said it was a good idea to get a special guitar.

I was looking at the McCarty 594 and the Thinline, and noticed that they had the same pickups as the SE HB2. How alike do they sound? Should I be looking at a Custom 22 ? I don't want a guitar to be redundant. I also have a strat and a Les Paul (for slide). I was hoping for a PRS that could be the 1 guitar I can take to a gig that covers clean strat vs Humbucker rock and blues/jamband stuff.
Amp is Princeton Reverb or Silverface Vibrolux

I should also note that I prefer a more plain top like the tobacco, but not the 10 tops or the plain colors
thanks!

One idea is to get a Core Hollowbody, sell the SEHBII and get something else that's not redundant. I love my SE HBII but it's not a Core.

If you did coil split with the McCarty (or SE HBII) you could do everything with it.

SE Paul’s guitar, it’s nothing like the SE HB (I have both). The Paul’s TCI pickups are bright, punchy and the coil splits are true single coils that don’t get weak. I rotated the neck pup to get a convincing out of phase tone, more tele than strat. It would be a Swiss Army knife of tones. I gave the HB to my daughter, as it was sort of “meh” in tone, and I didn’t feel like dropping several hundred dollars into it for different humbuckers.

I’ve been playing hollowbodies for half a century. The SE Hollowbodies don’t sound like anything I ever played. All of them are very good guitars that you should keep. Think about a 24 fretter in whatever budget you have. They’re all great guitars that won’t sound like your others.

No ...;)
I have both, they occupy hooks right next to one another in my rack ...
They do both have the 58/15S pickup, but they have different "voices"

The first thing that struck me about the Thinline, was how much darker (and NO NOT MUDDY) it sounded that say the 85/15S in my SE CU24's ...and I definitely preferred it

But the Hollowbody is a different trip. No coil split (like in the Thinline) ... But you don't miss them. The Hollowbody is not a "twangy" kind of guitar... Smooth. open ,mellow , jazzy on Roar if you want ... but just a really neat devise !

But don't decide between them ... you need both !

PS The Hollowbody Standard in Tobacco ... is gorgeous ! ;)

I hear you, but the blue and yellow just aren't my style. Are there other colors?

I have the SE HB2 in cherry red- its a looker. So did you see that Core vs 594 That Phil dude did. The only difference was the pickups, and he suggested to just get the Core pickups and put in the 594 s2. It added some extra brightness. I would post the link but I am not allowed to

Saw that ... but later, I saw some S2 Mc Carty vs Core from other You Tubers ... and the differences were not nearly as pronounced ...

I like the 58/15S in both my 594 Thinline & my Hollowbody ...

But I figure if the heavier, more massive DC needed a "brighter" pickup, you come out ahead buying the S2 and going with the "boutique" pickup (Bare Knuckles/ Lambertone/ SD) of your choice. Either way ,you would have a killer guitar for about $2,200 when it was all over ...
