Does an EG quack?

I’ve been digging Cory Wong recently, and he’s all about that spanky quack 4th position.

Silver Skies are holding their value quite well, was looking at EG’s on the ‘verb.

Everything is expensive these days, is a used EG gonna give me that quack?

USA?
SE?
Single coils?
Dominoes?

Just go for the Silver Sky?

Shouldn’t anything with singles and a 5 way quack? I know my strat does, my old DC3 did, and even an NF3/SAS NF does

My SE EG sounds great in all 5 positions. Frankly it hits all the right spots for me as a 3 pu, singlecoil guitar....stoptail, wide fat neck that stays in tune all night.

The one I had did. I know Sergio's EG has ended his desire for that S sound.

I even get that quack tone with a PS with two Paul's Guitar pickups and a narrowfield in the middle, using the 5-way. The guitar looks nothing like a Strat or EG.

The quack is about how out-of-phase two pickups are, you don't need a Strat for it. But if you want it to sound exactly, 100% authentic Strat, sure, the Silver Sky is the best way to go, since it's a Strat.

Many other guitars do a version of it, the Silver Sky does it. As noted above, it’s a Strat thing. The SS has a sweet in-between tone.

My EG3 with Dominos quacks, but my DC3 quacks even more. My SE EG quacked nicely, but I didn’t love the position of the volume control or the wide fat neck. The DC3 ticks all the single coil boxes. And of course, my triple soapies quack with cojones.
