I bought a guitar thru Ebay from a US seller. It was sold as a Ricken"faker", obviously not a real Rickenbacker and stated such in the auction. Plus the pricing was only a couple hundred, no where near a Ric 350 JetGlo price. No intentional scamming.
The seller said it came in a hardshell case which fits fine, with only a little extra room in the headstock. But obviously not the original case for the guitar...IF there ever was one. Like I said, the guitar fits GREAT in the case, no movement, etc
However, I don't really need the case but may just keep it anyway, since it does fit well.
My question. is this a real Gibson case? Doing some quick research, the "Custom Art Historic" cases were from the custom shop from the late 90's and on for another 10 years or so. My case even had the little Gibson decal in the pouch.
What do you think? Somebody sprayed the "logo" on the case? I can't see the seller doing that and the logo looks as old as the case, which is in great shape btw.
My hesitations are the lock was usually in the middle latch and the pull tag on the inside compartment looks different from online pictures. Also where the bottom strap button would be cut out. That said, I have a couple other Gibson cases and this quality seems consistent, without a doubt. But I'm not a "case expert!" I bought my used Gibson cases for about $100 each when purchased separate. This case might be worth a tad more?
Thoughts? Value? (they seem to be in the $200-600 range depending...and those are recent SOLD prices on Ebay and Reverb).
Lastly, a Les Paul does fit in there perfect. Like it was made for that shape. My Ric fake body actually fits a tad better!
