I bought a "Pre-TM" 57/08 pickup. No idea what to do with it.

One thing I was wondering is, Paul mentioned they had the machine that made the wire for the original 50s G pickups, and they made some pickups with it, and it was inconsistent just as it was in the 50s. So, they put a computer on the back of it to help with consistency. That was right around the time they started TM-ing the covers. Wonder which wire version I have?

I bought a pair a couple of months after they were announced in 2008 and put them in my CU22, sold the guitar to my friend, they are still near by.
but I have the etched ones in my Ted now, so I'm ok.

Is it a neck or treble pickup?

I don’t like saying much more online ‘cause... I’m a selfish bastid and I’m still shopping for these.
Bridge. Seems like the only neck pickups I buy are the Duncan Jazz and Fralin P-92 - normally the neck pickup that comes with the guitar works OK, but sometimes not.

EDIT: Oh, and Dragon 2, great neck pickup

I’m positive you got “grail” wire. You should do something slammin’ with it.
Yup. PRS "Pre-TM" pickups are on their way to becoming the modern day PAFs. All you need now is some sort of period correct inobtanium PRS guitar in which to install them, and the harmonic convergence will surely come forth. :)

New 57/08’s are exactly the same as the old ones, and everyone knows DII’s are garbage pickups. Don’t overpay for made up hype, buy new pickups for your guitars, shiny ones.

Don’t get distracted by folklore and lies.

Shhhhh! Don't destroy this potential legend in the making! ;)

It needs to be said! I’m doing y’all a favor.

DII’s are $80 pickups tops. Looking for “good” 57/08’s is a fool’s errand, the ones you just bought sound better because the pickup height changed when you swapped them.
