Did you play a Guitar Today?? Or just look at a PRS on the wall.

I got about 4 hours in yesterday. I think owning a PRS is going to significantly increase my string budget. I can't put the guitar down.
Quite the way of looking at it! ;) But I hear ya' When I am wavering on whether to practice or not thinking about picking up my PRS HB always encourages me.

There is some (a lot of!) truth to the stuff you read about "when I only had one guitar and amp, all i did was learn

I agree. One 'main' guitar is my goal. I traded a Collings City Limits and a Collings 01 for my HB12. It works perfectly for the types of music I play. Fingerstyle love music, no picks.
It's hanging on the wall to worship right now, but frequently in my hands for some real adoration.

I haven’t even seen a guitar in a week.

Here ya go buddy...lemme break that cycle for ya....

Excellent, I see you found the Kool-Aid....it's some good stuff huh?

I tried. Had left hand surgery on Friday. Stitches are still in the left side of my hand, so made noise for about 15 minutes with the first 3 fingers. Definitely helped my recovery, and soothed my soul...

Good luck w/your recovery! Glad you were able to play a bit.

Seems like an opportune time for an update on my hand. Therapy was helping but just wasn't getting me there. So I saw a hand specialist last week. He said I had the beginning of trigger finger. He recommended a cortisone shot (which the orthopedic doc I'd seen also suggested, but he said he preferred that I see the specialist first). He said I could just do therapy exercises at home, and scheduled a follow-up for a month, then said, "But I expect you to call and cancel because you'll be feeling okay". I had a therapy appointment for the hand Thursday that I kept, and updated the therapist while she did the hand massage and stretching. I told her I was seeing signs of improvement, and was showing her the bend when I got a sharp pop and pain in the end knuckle. The finger moved very freely after that, and I was able to fully curl it to my palm on its own for the first time in months. It didn't stay like that, but I was thrilled. It takes a little painful stretching each day, but I'm finally able to grab a guitar w/o a full stretching regimen. The last two days, I've taken about 30-45 minutes just to play for the hell of it. I still have to use a little extra effort to get that full curl in the first time, but it stays flexible for much longer now. I've lost a lot of the little chops I had, but I know I can work back to that.

Good luck! Seems like the therapy is working for you. I've had intense pain in my left pinky (almost all the way down the side to the palm.) Trigger finger related. Tried therapy with no success. Cortisone shot worked like magic for 3-4 months, and then the pain came back even worse. I think the Cortisone is a double-edged sword - you feel great, so you use your fingers as if nothing is wrong, all the time exacerbating the actual problem. Hand specialist and I agreed that another shot would just delay the inevitable, so I had the surgery done.

Sorry for the thread tangent.

Therapy helped, but it didn't quite get there. The shot is helping so far. Thanks for mentioning your experience w/the shot - it gives me a point of reference and will remind me if my hand goes all Flowers For Algernon on me, I won't be overly hesitant to take the next step.

Playing right now, just takin' a coffee break and back to it. For the few prior posts from the folks w medical/pain issues that are hampering your play, I can't even imagine yet to that degree. I really feel horrible for you and hope you get to feeling better each day so you can enjoy all your favorite things, especially playing guitar whenever you want.
