Up for debate...my discovery, that is. But I LOVE, love, love the 85/15s pickup set. Call me Easy Sally...whatever. Anyrate...I have an old Japanese lawsuit Les Paul, that I bought back in the late 70's. Open book headstock, so accepted in some guitar circles, as you guys I'm sure know. Anyrate...I don't customize guitars much...If I play a guitar that I don't care for the pickups...or something else along those lines. I just don't buy the guitar... and yes...I have swapped out tuners and nuts. But a guy has to make his own decision about his nuts... that's kinda personal.
But continuing on... I bought another set of 85/15s pickups...that had the SAME sticker on the set that I already own... there are several versions of these 85/15s right??
So...I slop these puppy dawgs into my "les Paul"...and WOLLA! I have another guitar that sounds basically identical to my PRS. Who would have thought? I mean, one guitar has a pickguard, one doesn't, one has a trem...one doesn't, one is made of laminate (gasp!) ...one of mahogany. But we all "know"..none of that matters...not even the variable of the player.
Anywayzz...I'm totally thrilled and will save me from trying to convince my wife the swamp ash guitars are acceptable looking...enough to pass the wife test.
For 50 bananas off Ebay... I bought the cheapest PRS you could ever find.
This is a tip btw....if you're an intermediate, or just starting guitar....let my experience in home "repairs" save you a lot of trips to Mars Music and discussions with your significant other that thinks you need a Gretsch instead.

You'll thank me later. It's one of those feelings that you get, deep down inside. I'm right on this one....trust me.
