anyway to change over a dgt to 1 vol/2 tones with tap still on the rear tone control?

It would be like this, only the white wires are the substitute for the North Finish and South Finish wires coming together and going to the coil split... you could leave the white wires connected as they are to the push/pull for coil tapping. EDIT: Also, your coil split would be on one of the two tone pots, not on the volume control. It doesn't matter which one.
