I use 10s on my 2018 Core DGT but am aware they ship ‘em with 11s. Just curious what strings y’all prefer on this guitar and why…?

I’ll admit to having gradually moved away from the DGT’s tone, especially the clean tones. Over the last 5 years I’ve embraced hollowbodies, both semis and true hollowbodies, and that woody sound ingrained itself in my brain. As a result the DGT increasingly sounded very direct and aggressive to my ears, like a slap in the face. I’m considering to sell, even though the neck is fabulous and the thing looks and plays amazing. Now my pick-up height as always been factory-spec on this guitar but today I lowered them to be flush with the mounting rings. What a difference that makes… The DGT sounds much more woody, airy and, well, sweet. Whereas I used to feel I was hearing just the strings, now I’m hearing wood and little bells and overtones. Wow. I think I’ll hang on to it. Anyone have similar experiences with lowering pickups?

PS there’s not much wrong with the split sounds but I rarely use it. Somehow I prefer to grab a guitar with dedicated single coils instead of tapping the DGT.

due to the big frets I still run the stock 11-49's they play as easy as the 9.5's on my other ones.

I run the 11s, as designed. On my 25-1/2" scale guitars I run 10-46 or 10-52. But the 25" is better with the factory 11's for me.

I might have lowered the treble side of the bridge pickup a tad, but the DGT was one of the only guitars I've ever bought that was perfect out of the box. Really nothing to do. The other was an EBMM Luke III HH.

Every guitar I purchase, new or used, immediately gets an overall pickup height adjustment, followed by individual screw pole piece height adjustment (if equipped). I usually level the screw pieces close to the top of the bobbins. Do a little reading before screwing with screw pole piece adjustments!

I Play 11's On Everything Unless It Is A Tele. As Far As Pickup Height, I Tweak It Until It Sounds Good. With Some Guitars I Have I Don't Think I Have Touched The Pickup Height At All Because They Sounded Wonderful. Could They Sound Even Better If I Did? Maybe...But Then I Could Also Lose What I Have And Maybe Not Get It Back Exactly As Was So In Some Cases The Juice Isn't Worth The Squeeze. I Will Add This...After Properly Setting Up All My Guitars They Tend To Sound Better Overall To Me. Maybe It Is Mental Or A Comfort/Familiar Thing But I Always Feel Better And Think They Sound Better Once Properly Set Up.
