Hi guys,

Anyone got any tips for using the push/pull coil tap on the control of a DGT for live work.

I find my hands get so sweaty under stage lights that I cannot pull it up into single coil mode when playing live :(

You might look at options like converting to a "push/push" knob, replacing the stock knobs with some with "ridged" sides for a better grip or simply cutting a thin strip of textured material (like velcro) to wrap around the stem of the knob to give an easier grip. The latter should be cheap and easy and hardly noticeable. I sometimes use a "dot" of velcro on picks to make them harder to drop when playing live.

I tried wrapping an elastic band around it, thought that may help but it didn't.
Those 80's Ibanez knobs with the rubber around the middle would be ideal.

There was a recent discussion on the push-push pot option, which I highly recommend. Works perfectly on my DGT.

I changed my approach and grab it with my fingernail under the knob. Works great.

Funnily enough I've been doing that the last few days and it seems to work, got band rehearsal next week so will give it a try.
Although my DGT is my #1 I've been gigging my Suhr Classic T lately.

Have you considered hiring a dedicated knob-tugger? I'd think a simple newspaper ad - "Wanted - someone to tug my knob on stage" would get you an array of candidates. :flute:

Sounds like the push-push is probably the best solution for you.

I'm a recently DGT convert and while I rarely use the coil tap, I see where an easier approach to tapping it would be beneficial esp with live play. I will also look into the push-push pot.

I've got 2 DGTs....tugging that knob was way more fidgety than it should be...one of the few niggles prs still hasn't perfected (along with the SE nuts after all these years...)
After trying numerous approches, I finally replaced the tone knobs with knurled barrel knobs and got back to playing...:)

I converted all my coil-tap enabled guitars to push-push a few months ago and have never looked back. It is a very easy swap of pots. if your comfortable with soldiering, it will be a breeze.

(wonders why any of you all are having trouble tugging your knobs)

(giggles like a sixth grader)
