DGT - Birds or Moons? Solid or Burst?

I have the green light to purchase a DGT. My wife is a keeper because the green light is actually for a LP Custom and a DGT. I'm very excited about the DGT, not so much about the LP Custom. But if she wants me to buy both, who am I to argue?

Birds or Moons?
Solid top or Flame Burst?

When I saw David at Wildwood with PRSh, he was playing burst with birds. When I saw him at the Saxon Pub in Austin, TX it was burst with moons. Videos from NAMM '12 was solid with moons. NAMM '13 is burst and moons.

Personal preferences aside, which combination is considered 'correct' for a DGT?

Ditch the LPC and get both varieties of DGT's.

I would say play them all and buy what speaks to you. Wildwood is a great shop, they will help you in your quest. One of my best sounding PRS is an '08 Black DGT with birds and I have a few. Almost as many as Hans.

Remember, all DGTs are goldtops with moons, the rest are just mistakes.

You have to buy what you like... we all have our favorites.

I like and have had an eye out for one in FLAME, Faded Blue Jean with Birds!
To me Flame maple and birds are Signature PRS traits. YMMY

Whatever DGT finds you. I personally like the birds with a burst. That's just me though. Btw DGT's are great,probably the guitar that will become like the custom 22's....oh and forget the Gibson, get two DGT's lol

This seems to be the Original Recipe variety. But since you're green lit on two, get you an Extra Crispy Burst with some Birds man!!!
