I made an impulse buy. I saw a used 2012 gold top DGT with hollow birds at GC near me.
bought it after I played it for a few minutes. Played great sounded really good. The front of the guitar is in near excellent condition.
I noticed some green tint on both pickups which I assume is oxidation and it had been played and gigged a lot from the back scratches and what looks like belt warn spot warn thru the paint. But I bought it anyway ,
1. is there a safe way to remove that green , or should I look into replacing the covers ?
2. Is there a way to restore the warn area that shows the wood, on the back, or does the whole back have to be done . I would have a pro do this of course.
I read some some ideas on #1 in other forums, but I am not sure how safe for the guitar some of these ideas are so I wanted to check with this forum.
I appreciate any feedback..... I have 3 1/2 weeks to decide if I will keep this guitar. I probably could of waited and for a hundred or two more got a pristine DGT ...
Thanks !
