I'm looking at the DGT 15 head and because I do not own a 1x12 or 2x12 cabinet, wondering if setting it on-top of my 71 pro reverb is a good option?

The Pro is a old non-master silverface 2x12, 8 ohm each, so it's my limited understanding that as long as the speakers ohms are equal to or less than the head your fine? Wouldn't 2x12 8s give you 4 ohms overall?

Thanks for any input. Maybe one day I'd get a cabinet, but right now figured try with what I have. Thxs

Two 8 ohm speakers can be wired one of two ways to get 4 or even 16 ohms.

Safest thing to do is put a meter on it to know for sure. Once you get that figured out you'll be good to go.

I believe the old Silverface Pro’s ran at 4 ohm, but check as Gush said. If you can’t measure, just verify if the speakers are wired in series or parallel.

Thank you all for the help. Sorry been awhile since I checked back. I got a deal on a 8 ohm 1x12 cabinet, but I'll check the silverface and see, do I can try it with the 2x12 too. Thanks

The DGT15 should be able to run anything 4, 8, or 16 ohms. With 2 speakers I’d be surprised if your Pro was anything other than 4 or 8 - some old Fenders were 2 ohm, but I think those were usually the 4x10’s still running 8 ohm speakers.

It’s a great amp, and with all the tweakable tone controls, it can be made to work well with a wide variety of speakers.

Thanks y'all I picked up a 1x12 8ohm the other day but I'll definitely figure out the 2x12 thanks
