Thanks to all for the tips and inspriration. I love EL 84 amps , and have played them for years .. (Peavey tweed Classic 30 and Mesa Boogie Studio 22+ (30+ years!) ) . I thought about another Boogie , but as they've changed hands it was time for a fresh tonal view.

It showed up this afternoon , in good shape , all tubes bubble wrap and labled for location on tube and chassis ( he did have the AT7 in the wrong slot per PRS , I fixed that . Only bummer , the power cord and speaker cable were not included ... argh .. rectified it . Plugged in my McSoapy,.....

OH YES !!! I can best describe it as the love child of a Fender Twin and a VoX AC30 . For my style it is the perfect fit . I would agree with all the other reviews I've read and watched , Crank the Master then set the volume where you need it. I've never played an amp that handles dynamics so well, it really captures all the nuances. NOT a high gain , but once you dial it in , it's so delicious you really don't care , there is always pedals , which it takes very well.

Outstanding!

I spent yesterday playing several guitars through the DG and exploring it's nuances. The presence and top cut and boost and bright all make delightful changes . I'm surprised how quiet this amp is , ambient noise is the lowest of any tube amp I've played .. bravo Doug Sewel.

re: Brimars

I have an EL84 combo, and all the EL84s I have rattle terribly, even with silicone tube dampers on them. Can anyone vouch for the Brimars as being QUIET in this situation? (and don't recommend JJs, I don't like them compared to other EL84s).

I've used Mesa and Groove tubes for the last 30 , and have tried the JJ's . No rattle issues in either my Peavey Classic 30 or studio 22.
When I retube next time , I'll try the Brimar's as DG and Les gave them thumbs up. WOW .. DG himself just gave me a thumbs up for a comment on his VID... OMG that is SO cool .
