I recently ordered a 509 and was told it would take approx 26 months to arrive, is there that much of a backlog ? The 509 was ordered in Alberta Canada, from one of the largest stores in the country, wondering if anyone else has come across this or is it just a routine response for most pre order PRS?

An enabler would suggest that another (non custom) PRS purchase would help during the wait. But you won’t find me suggesting this.;)
Hey TW, this advice above from Alnus is sound. Really, that is a LONNNNGGGGGG lead time. Why not salve your anxiety with something from the S2 line if you want built in Stevensville? Or, an SE for what they say is a helluva lot of guitar for under a grand? Your amp is begging you. :)

That is exactly what my sales associate told me the day I picked up my new Hollowbody. I waited 8 months for it and he told me if I were to order it today (that day) it would be 26 months coming. My jam buddy is waiting for a new Dingwall bass and he ordered it in December just like me. Dingwall's are made here in Canada (just like my still to arrive Seagull/Godin S12) but many of the components are from across the pond and that affects builds. I reckon...
TW, are you anywhere in the Edmonton area? I deal mostly at the Highlands location but there are lots of other Alberta locations if it's the same store chain. But they should all have the same arrival times. I've always been treated very well any time I've dealt with them.

I'm in Calgary and yes sounds like the same store I'm using, they have been great ,but nothing they can do for delivery times, I'm having the same issue with a mesa mark 5 med head, that one there is no ETA yet, just have to site and wait
Cheers

I'm in Calgary
There's another member from Calgary on here. He works road construction in the summers so he's likely still really busy. I get down there fair regularly for various reasons, of late mostly to ride my race bike at the new RMM racecourse near Carstairs. Something I plan to do more of next year.

IMO, life is too short to wait. I would personally buy something in stock but I need another guitar like a hole in the head. I have done the wait game on gear and it just isn't my thing. YMMV
