So I already have an SE Custom 24 (spalted maple with vintage sunburst) and I love it to bits. Yet G.A.S. (gear acquisition system) makes me want to buy another. I could spring for an S2 as my next guitar, but I want a 7 string. I really don't have the money to buy another guitar and I don't want to go and ask my parents for an expensive instrument. I don't want to necessarily make a bad purchase, because I have had buyers remorse in the past. A cheap used ESP LTD MH 1010QM for about 250 bucks, originally 400 new. Floyd rose special was what made me get rid of the thing, I bought it originally because it was signed by George Lynch. I used that money I got from selling it to fund my SE. I have had to get a few demons out of it (hair line cracks along the binding, 3 weeks at the factory, comes back with a big quarter sized chip next to the bottom strap button, another 3-4 weeks which PTC did an amazing job on and most recently getting the selector switch replaced.) I've gotten to play a Core Custom 24 and it was a bit lighter and had the same feel, but I don't want to buy something like that and then just not like it. I LOVE the CE Custom 24's, the neck feel and finish, the tone, the sustain, the finish and it was semi hollow. 1500 bucks used and it was such a deal. What would be the next step?

Treat yourself to some superior wood with a more ergonomic bevel — get an S2.

2021 is coming soon. Let’s see what new models PRS has to offer.

If you love the CE24 you've answered your own question and used CE are plentiful.

I mean I could've easily gotten an S2 but I think my cap for the "Go big or go home Christmas" was 900. I would definitely debate getting one. The bevels and stuff are kind of weird to me personally. I am in love with the CE Custom 24 but 2 grand is a bit much for intermediate guitar player. Not a fan of the silver sky, great tone but the neck is massive. You expect a strat neck like any other guitarist would, but you then get a big baseball bat neck!

I would have to start working and either chip in half or fund it all by myself. I absolutely love the CE's, but I found one that was a great deal, same shop where I purchased my PRS, Faded blue smokeburst Semi Hollow, 1599 I think. I was in love with the neck since I was apprehensive about the gloss neck on the SE and that I would hate it, but I got used to it and it feels great. But that CE may have been the key.
