Guys:
I have wonderful playing PRS DC3 that just sounds way, way too bright. I've lowered the pickups, but that did not help reduce the treble tones of this guitar.

Do you have any suggestions? I'm about to take it to a repair shop and see if the can do something with it. But, is there something else I can try?

Thanks
Emmitt

I suppose you've done the obvious, like reduce your pickup volume, and roll your tone control on the guitar back a bit. And on your amp.

How about an EQ pedal to shape the tone your way? There are some good ones out there now.

A different cap in the guitar might also make a difference.

The DC3 is a single coil loaded guitar. Is your past experience on humbuckers? If you haven't owned a single coil equipped guitar before, you will percieve them as bright. Turn the tone pot down as see if you like it any better. If it is still crazy bright, there may be something wrong with it.

Thanks, guys, I've turned down the treble on all amps and on the guitar to ZERO. Still too bright. Nothing seems to help. I have owned and still own several single coils, though my preference is humbucker equipped guitars (CS-336 Gibson, PRS SC-245 McCarty).

I am beginning to think there is something wrong with the guitar. Might be time to take it in.

Does the tone pot change it at all? If the cap isn't soldered well to the tone control it won't cut the highs at all and it would be very bright.
