DC-3 / 305 NOS

Hi,

I think I've might had my quest for an SSS PRS ended

A local store (PRS authorized dealer) haves a DC-3 (Vintage Burst, Ring dots) and a Cherry Red 305 (birds).

In playability terms I prefer the DC-3 - also in the sound department. Unfortunately there was some kind of mixed up in the warehouse and they ended up sending the DC-3 hardcase with another guitar leaving the guitar with a PRS gig bag (I suspect it wasn't a mix up but some other costumer might had pay for that case on top of another purchase and left the bag with but anyway...).

According to forum rules it is OK to ask if the asking price is inline with this guitar with a gig-bag, as its discontinued? If not please delete/edit this post

They want 1399 EUR for it. Good deal? So-so? I'm way off market value for PRS. The "2011 Retail Pricelist" puts a 3,333 USD price on it. Judging for this alone I would say it's a good deal - but for how much were they selling on the stores back in the day?

I like the guitar but hate the idea of overpaying for an item.

Thanks for the answers so far. It is exactly like this one:

The neck just feels 'right'. The Pattern Regular is my favorite neck shape... strangely enough the 305 supposedly haves the same neck shape but feels a lot 'fatter' to me and not as comfortable as the DC-3's neck.

Yeah...The DC-3 has an awesome feeling , almost "bare wood" neck. Go for it.

Many 305s came with a wide fat neck and yes the one I had and the ones I have played had bigger necks than the DC3 I had for a time.

It was weird to see the difference between a 305 and DC3. Mine had a wide thin neck that was so fast. Never should have sold it.

I hope you grab it. I think you can do no wrong with either a 305 or a dc3. To me, they are slightly different iterations of PRS's take on a modern strat style guitar. I traded away the dc3 I had a couple years ago, but my 305 is a keeper: to me it is a bigger, warmer sounding strat that feels and plays like a PRS.

That's the one. It builds up on the wood finish after several coats.

If it looks just like that, you've made a huge mistake!! I'm willing to buy the DC3 from you, just to help a brother out, so you can purchase the 305 which is clearly what you really want. That's the kind of support we offer, here at the PRS forum. Think of it as a "welcome to the brotherhood" kind of favor.

It will be looser as the PRS will be narrower at the waist. However I believe the PRS has a slightly wider lower bout.

I have the same case and they are bullet proof.
