I had a dream last night that was a little unusual.

I was at the cardiologist, and he was looking over my tests and chart. After a few moments he looked at me and said, "You're doing great. You'll definitely make it to your birthday this year. But...probably not to your birthday next year."

He shrugged his shoulders.

I shrugged my shoulders.

My first thought was, "I wonder whether I should buy more gear if I'm only going to get a few months' use out of it."

When I woke up I started thinking that maybe I should put the money into my pyramid.

Somebody should tell us, right at the start of our lives, that we are dying. Then we might live life to the limit, every minute of every day. Do it! I say. Whatever you want to do, do it now! There are only so many tomorrows.

I'm not sure he meant, "You should go shopping..." 😂

Seriously, it was just a funny dream. I thought it was amusing that in the dream I was thinking about whether I should keep buying gear instead of being upset about the death part!

I bought a super-interesting reverb plugin with a pitch effect yesterday, so that answers my question about shopping!

You only die once
What if reincarnation is a thing?
but you live EVERY DAY...
"Get a life, Laz."

"Does this mean I don't currently have a life?"

"I wouldn't call your existence 'living'."

"Maybe it's because I'm waiting to be reincarnated into something a little more fun."

"You could be reincarnated as a monkey."

"I was thinking more along the lines of 'More Fun Than A Barrel of Monkeys', but OK."

This one keeps calling my name .. I don't have a Paul's and it's rare to see a rosie, especially with a coco fb, a perfect color match to my HB II

That'd be tough to resist!

What's the black fabric across the unwound strings for?

Just Do It!
Do what?

I ask you. 'Just Do It' doesn't mean anything to me unless I Just Do something that matters.

What I love to Just Do, create my own music, might otherwise be a worthwhile thing, but no one listens to it. It doesn't matter to anyone, and therefore it's a trivial waste of time.

I can't think of anything else to Just Do at the moment. I do know that shopping isn't an accomplishment to Just Do. Shopping's like cheap heroin.

You get high for a few hours, and then the next day you're on to the next shiny object.

My reading has taught me a lot about history, but no one really wants to discuss it. I can't share it. I might as well read comic books.

It's 4 AM. I can't even Just Do sleep.

Well in this instance it meant Just Buy it
The guitar that is
As for not sleeping its 5 am and I am up and have been up for an hour
not much to do but browse this site and dream about new guitars
Can't even play the newest one without the Amp waking anyone up

Yes you can - why don't you start a History thread, covering the period and place of your choosing, and we'll join in to the best of our abilities?

I love the subject too, and have just finished "Sapiens" by Harari and "Unruly" by David Mitchell. My understanding of it is spread pretty thin, however, as I've spent so much time on other subjects that - up to recently - also captivated me.

I'd love the chance to dig into the subject more: especially at a time when the dimly-remembered (or worse, totally forgotten) past - if recent experience is any guide - seems to be anything longer than eighteen months ago.
