Recently, I decided to build some guitar stands out of wood. I gave it a go and I think they turned out okay. Take a look and see what you think. The legs are made of Spanish Cedar and the middles are made out of various types of rosewood. The leather was added to protect the guitars. Enjoy!

Lookin' good! There's somethin' not quite right about that guitar on the right though....

Those Atlas amp stands look very nice. I am not that good at wood working, though. Those stands had moving parts and such! My skills would need to improve!

That is a beautiful singlecut you have there,
Which model and year is it, and scale length?
I wish PRS would bring a 250 SC back.

Thanks! It is a Stripped 58 in Blue Crab Blue. 25 1/2 scale.

Not that it's a big deal, probably just a typo, but the Stripped 58 has 24 1/2 inch scale.

The stands look great!

On the LPs, be careful with the leather pads, as some leather finishes and dyes can chemically interact and burn the nitro finish if the guitar is left on the stands for too long.

Correct - 24 1/2 scale! My bad.

they look pretty sweet, and enough like furniture to be tolerated in the living room by the boss

A couple more shots with my favorite guitars on them. This time, with my McKorina as well!

Thanks for taking a look!

Nice job! I like that type of stand, but I'm always nervous I'll be knockin' guitars over.

I like the look of the stands! The one thing I am always interested to know though is whether the stand is safe for nitrocellulose guitar finishes. I've got some old school non-PRS guitars which have that finish so I have to always keep that in mind. I know Hercules stands are safe for nitrocellulose so I have a bunch of those. As far as the leather padding goes, I've never seen that used for a guitar stand but I wonder if that makes a difference. With my gun collection it would make a difference as far as holsters and such go. A vegetable tanning process must be used for holster leather so that it doesn't corrode the finish of the firearms. I wonder if the leather tanning method matters when placing various guitar finishes against the leather pads.

The reason I went with the leather is - well I figure if it is used in guitar straps, maybe it is fine for the stands. I have no actual knowledge that this is true, but I have had my Les Paul sitting in one of the stands for a few weeks non-stop and there have been no issues. Actually, I am not really sure how long it would take to show any issues. We will see....
