Anyone educate me on the Custom 50 amp, please. I'm looking for a versatile combo amp and this seems to tick many boxes.
Is this a continuation of the "H" amp? Or something more different?
Are there dramatic tonal differences between the 1x12 combo and the 2x12 half-stack? Most youtube clips I've seen were made with a half-stack.
What material is the combo cab made of? Any reports of tube rattle and similar issues with combo amps?
Is the FX loop tube driven? Not too keen on that. Any tone suck? And how does the In/Out knobs on the FX loop work as a volume control?

From what I understand, they had the 2 Channel C and 2 Channel H originally. I think from a market perspective the H was by far the better seller. So they tweak it's design and it's now the 2 Channel Custom 50. I had an H combo that I had a *long sorted rather not talk about problem* while the Custom 50 was being developed. To resolve my problem, I had the option of swapping to it or something else. I went with an HX/DA instead and all is well. Don't have info on combo materials, didn't have any rattle while I had mine, not sure on FX loop questions other than yes the send/return knobs can be used to lower the overall volume. I typically kept them at the recommended default, so never noticed any tone issues. I'm pretty sure the FX loop is post everything, that's why if you turn both the send and return knobs to 0 you get no sound at all. Hope that helps a bit, haven't had mine since this time last year so hard to remember specifics.

I Don't know about the combo. I just got a custom 50 head and I can tell you,I have had every amp you could think of a
this by far is the best,it does everything beautiful.I Had a line on a super Dallas and I played them side by side the 50 c suited mystyle better.check out Aristotles post on the amp he has a bevy of amps and he rates this highly.

Bluesky if you could find September issue of guitar player there is a good write up on the amp Tony Iommi is on the cover. Hope this helps.

Have you got the link to Aristotle's post? I can't find it with the Search function.

I've watched a couple of youtube clips and they're mostly the head and a 2x12 cab. I assume the 1x12 combo version would be a bit different in tone and feel. Does the 2x12 cab and the 1x12 combo come with the same speakers?

I just wanted to share a thought: While I appreciate the ease of handling and storage of a combo, in recent years my high quality amp preference has been separate heads and cabs.

Among the reasons are the ability to mix and match with different speaker cabs as needs/rooms change, though the ability to put the head in my control room and the cab into a recording booth are also convenient for my studio work. Usually I have a 2x12 and a 1x12 on hand to swap things around.

Not that I'm trying to talk you into anything, but it's nice for me to be able to do things that way, and it might be worth thinking about.

Pretty much the only amp I'd really want in combo form factor would be a vintage AC30, as I doubt one could get "that tone" any other way.

I agree - all my other gear consists of amp heads with 2x12 cabs. But I'm looking for a grab'n'go combo amp with good OD tone that doesn't require taking a pedal board with me. Just guitar and amp (in a case).
