My latest purchase, I was excited when I saw this come up for sale because I’ve never seen many Custom 24’s with Redwood tops. I searched the Internet for info and all that comes up is the 300 Limited Edition Signatures from 1990, 91. I also believe someone once posted they wanted to refinish their custom 24 Redwood top here on this forum but no other information available at least that I can find.

The neat thing about this example is it is a one piece redwood top finished in Tortoise shell, Cust24 1991. It needed a very good cleaning and polishing, set up the whole works which I performed myself, it sounds great, I swear it’s a bit warmer than my custom 24s with maple tops.

Any information from anyone or anyone at PRS would be appreciated, Were a lot of these made, was it an experiment, etc. etc. ??? I believe other than the 300 signatures, redwood was used on some Hollowbody models.

That is a KILLER score! I have one of the LE Sigs from '91 that is also Redwood (and hollow). The top on mine also has that "waviness" to it that yours does.

Thanks! I alway wanted one of the LE Sigs with tune-o-magic bridge. I used to have one of the 1000 Custom24 signature series. Post a photo of your LE. :D

Like very much...way cool and different top...congrats!!!

Don't want to derail, but since you requested....#5 of 300 from '91. I think it may have still had the original strings on it when I got it last summer. Near mint. A little tarnish starting on the tuner buttons, and one little "bubble" in the clear coat on one edge.

DAMN Bodia that is in awesome condition!! Gold hardware looks clean like you mentioned. Someday maybe I’ll find the right one for the right price..... (btw that doesn’t mean it has to be unfairly cheap)

Thanks for posting!!

That’s cool to know. Hope to find out more history about mine and the CE’s . Thanks for reply. I’m going to search internet regarding the CE redwood models.

Around that time they did cedar, redwood, and lacewood topped guitars. I don't recall them being part of a series like the LE's were, just kinda random (which makes them even cooler IMO).
