Custom 24 tone pot mod choking tone

Just had a tap coil and three way switch installed in my used custom 24, and the tone pot rotation doesn't work as expected. On it's farthest near zero setting, the tone is very flat, like a high shelf filter has been switched on. Rotating towards the treble direction results in a sudden brightened tone, around the 1 -2 setting, not a gradual opening up of higher tone, but almost and "on/off" switch-like effect. And from that position to the highest 10 number, it stays the same, no brighter, but bright. So, in effect it has no mid range and nothing changes gradually, as I have come to expect from tone pots. A Cap was changed as well, but I don't remember the value. Could the Cap be causing this switch like effect? How is the tone pot supposed to sound? Thanks for sharing your understanding, and suggestions.

Could also be the pot. Do you know if they used a linear or audio taper pot? Big difference in how they respond to the rotation.

No I don't know. Do they look different? Have different solder joints? How do they behave differently? Thanks.

Do you know where I can find the correct wiring diagram? I thought there was one on the PRS site for the switch change kit, but can't locate it. Thanks.
