I have a Jones for a Floyd Rose equipped guitar to get my 80’s on with and looked at a lot of guitars from the usual suspects, and even bought a body and neck to put together my own bastardized Kramer Baretta….still in progress.

So I finally remembered that PRS has a CU24 Floyd guitar and watched a ton of videos and loved the sounds I was hearing. The maple necks and ebony boards maybe contributed to the sizzle I was hearing.

So now I have a real want for one and wondered if anyone here has or has had one, and what your take on them is. Also they are super rare used so if anyone has one they might let loose PM me to talk.

I have a 2018 WL CU24 floyd. Have posted about it in here before.

Dont know much more I can say if you have watched a ton of videos.

The maple neck and ebony board combo gives it more bite, more mid and highs. Definitely gives it more clarity. There is more definition in each note. It also has a bit more sustain which I think can be attributed to the ebony as well.

The pattern thin neck is super slinky and fast. Not the same or small as an IB wizard neck, a little more meat than that. Not uncomfortable at all.

The metal p/u's are hotter and they are screamers. They sound great thru a high gain amp. But they are not a one-trick pony, they are very versatile and can do a lot of different styles.

You already know about the floyd part. I have put it thru some good abuse and it stays perfectly in tune.

If you are looking for that 80's vibe and "sizzle" and only a floyd will do, this is the one you want!

I wish I could like those because the colors and the satin finishes are outrageous, they come with a black Floyd which is cool, and they’re priced right but the necks are even thinner than the pattern thin and too small for me.

PRS CU24 Floyd, for the PRS enthusiast who can’t live without two Allen wrenches. :p
I actually have toyed with the idea… just to have the metal pups….. but I can’t bring myself to the misery of the Floyd….. I just….

Can’t.

I’v never played one, but always wanted too. I’m not “Floyd-adverse” like some here. I was after one for a few years but could never try without buying.

Once I got my Axis, I stopped chasing a C24 Floyd. Not that I’d rule one out, and I’d definitely still play one if I saw it in the wild. But for 80s rock Floyd guitars, I’m set now with the Axis.

I played Gian’s Bonnie pink one for a few minutes. Not enough to give a real take on it, other than the neck felt great even if it was a pattern thin.

The fact they rarely crop up on the used market and don'h hang around for long is indicative of a great guitar.

This is mine...

If you can 'live' with the Floyd, which generally becomes a hassle when changing strings or tunings (like most trems), the rest of the time, its the 'easiest' guitar to live with - its rock solid and 'ready' to go anytime.

I do think the \m/ pups are a lot more versatile than their name suggests too....

Great guitar, but I think the 25" scale length hurts it a bit for a shred guitar. I wish these had been 25.5.

She’s a beauty!!!

I have 3 of them and they are all absolutely amazing guitars and these are my only 3 guitars that I own.
I'll have to post some pictures at some point.
I have a faded whale blue, metallic emerald green swamp ash and an Eriza Verde.

Once you set the intonation, you only need one wrench that you can magentically attach to the back of the neck, so fear not.
