Hello everyone!

I recently came across this prs custom 24 2011.

Can anyone tell my if this curve in the body is a common thing in guitars from that year?

Any information will be very much appreciated!

First of all the back should be flat as others have already said.
What's surprising to me is that although there is so much curvature created, nothing seems to have cracked. The body is a laminate of two pieces of maple on top and a piece of mahogany for the back. How could they twist like that, is beyond me...

It’s really odd, almost like it’s been overly humid and incorrectly stored causing it to form like that over time , possibly stored too close to a heat source

@ambones: your CU is for the wealthy dad bods.
And @AP515 is for the young, gym affine highschool/college dudes, in order to fill the place which six packs offer.

Okay, dad joking. I place myself in the choir next to @sergiodeblanc and join his singing, that this is whoa and never been seen before.

Therefore it would be a nice picture thread for recognizing who's a flat earther, who lives in a bowl due to convex backs, and who lives on (with) a belly ball due to a concave back.

That is absolutely astonishing! That the finish hasn't gotten damaged almost makes me think they might have done an experiment like that, but the top mating is also not flat, which wouldn't really serve a purpose.

It's also got a killer top, so I woudn't want to return it or anything. Does it play ok?

Riddle: What are the models?

First of all: It's very pleasant to have only less than a handful of PRSi.

My guitars all live on the disc world mounted on the backs of the four elephants Berilia, Tubul, Great T'Phon, and Jerakeen, which all are standing on the back of the star turtle Great A'Tuin.

My backs are all flat.

Line-up to unveil "riddle":
2005 PRS 513 RW (10 Top, which was serial; flamed top, which was standard and no additional option; golden hardware, which was extra charged)
2011 PRS 513 MT (10 Top, which was extra charged; quilted top, which was optional w/o being extra charged; modified from PCB to PtP as a present of Paul)
2013 PRS SE Mark Tremonti Custom BCQ [a special run for Thomann only (quilted veneer plus "colour" shade (Cherry Sunburst Quilt, Whale Blue Quilt, Black Cherry Quilt) instead of serial Gray Black]. The depicted elevation is caused by an unrecessed spring compartment cover.
2016 PRS SE Mark Holcomb (one of the first 2017 copies with the PRS signature on the headstock)

it plays ok, tuning is 100% stable. Neck pocket is perfect, that's also a weird thing.

Hard to imagine how it could get that warped post production and not loose a lot of it's functionality including as mentioned the finish not checking. Very odd! I would definitely be sending pix of this to customer service and asking for an explanation. Awesome that it still plays proper and stays in tune, but inquiring minds want to know ;~))

It seems to have warped pretty symetrically. I cannot begin to imagine the stress on that maple cap!! I would assume it will split some time in the future.
