Custom 24 and tremolo bridge

Hey guys. So, I just got a Custom 24, but for some reason, the tremolo bar that came in the case does not fit in the hole in the bridge. Somebody help me please.

You could check the grub screw on the back of the trem and loosen it, but if someone gave you the wrong one... not a whole lot else anyone can do about it.
