so I found a 2000 custom 24 dinged up for 1100$ or best offer and a custom 24 30th around town. Any thoughts. What do you all think is a good price for a great condition custom 24 30th anniv? Any thoughts on the 2000 model? Just looking for advice. Thx

For the 2000 CU24 - at $1100 OBO I would probably jump on it depending upon neck shape, color, and how bad the dings are. If it has a 10 Top, the OHSC and docs then even better. But for that price, if the guitar speaks to you then you will be hard pressed to find anything better no matter the aforementioned criteria. Heck, if I could move some of my extra gear fast enough I would probably jump on that.

As for the 30th Anny goes, well, again, neck shape, color, and how it feels in your hands. I'm not going to quote a price (EBay sold listings will help you figure that out) but I will say, after playing on my buddies, these are sweet guitars as well. Since this is a relatively new model, where you live will impact the price (for example, from experience the North East corridor has a plethora of used PRSi so the prices tend to be lower there compared to the Midwest). With everything included, I would surmise a guesstimate at between 2 and 3K. More if its a 10 Top with an Artist package. Again, it all comes down to how it feels when you are playing it and what you're willing to spend.

More details, pics (because we like seeing guitar pics!), and other info can help us get you a better idea of things.

Not 100% sure what we are allowed to discuss here in terms of prices. A used CU24 for $1K sounds like a reasonable deal, subject to being able to play the guitar before buying. I assume you are talking about a new 30th anniversary CU24 guitar, and if so, then I would do a search on the internet to see what the prices look like at the various PRS dealers that sell on line and go from there.

If the 30th is a core model, I doubt it would be comparable in price.
Cosmetics aside, the major differences would be the pickups, rotary switch or blade switch and maybe neck carve.

My problem is that I really like the CU24 30th model, so I can't be objective.

I like the pickups better than anything else PRS has ever stuck on a guitar. I'm addicted to playing mine. I also prefer the newer tuning machines, and some of the other little improvements Paul has put into the guitars along the way.

So I'm clearly biased. I'd get the 30th.

I'm with you, Les. I've played PRSi from the 90s, 00s, 10s, and the 30th Anny. As nice as they all are, there is just something about the 30th anniversary guitars that is special. Whatever black magic they're doing, they need to keep it up!

You're right, Paul does have some black magic going on with that model. But heck, that's why I play PRS.
