Probably only available second hand if they were taken off an up-market model like Artist Package, Wood Library, or Private Stock. Look at the second hand market. I once scored a pair of gold 53/10s that way.

It’s also not all that difficult to swap pickup covers if you have access to a decent soldering iron

I once had a set of polished gold, 1st gen (not engraved), 57/08's from the factory. Still kicking myself for selling them - along with the 10th Anniversary Artist they were in.

I have never seen another set. Like Dave said... there have been a few 'factory original' sets in polished gold (and brushed gold) with engraving but they're rarely set free.

It’s more when the tape falls off the cutter and sticks to itself that gets me.

You are not wrong! Those packing tape guns can seriously mess you up. I've experienced headaches, elevated blood pressure, Tourette's-like symptoms, bleeding, and loss of mobility in my fingers and legs.



Fortunately Mrs. Squid has usually been willing to cut me free.
