Crazy wood, what’s the attraction?

I don’t know what causes these claw marks on spruce, but it makes the normal tight, even, straight grain of a typical spruce top a lot more interesting.

“Crazy wood” to me means crazy or unusual within its species. “Freaks of nature.” Stuff that makes you say, “Wait, that’s English walnut?!!”
