Covid is still a thing...

Admittedly, I’m no expert in the progression of viruses, but I’m pretty sure that this is an oddity in virus evolution. From what I’ve learned, viruses normally get more virulent (easier to catch) and less harmful (weaker symptoms) as they evolve. This divergence seems peculiar. But that probably shouldn’t be surprising, considering that we’re talking about a man made virus that’s being treated with a relatively unproven gene altering therapy. What could go wrong?

Neh, i don't think the wuhan lab theory panned out. Just a case of bad luck and unpleasant results with an annoying virus that was in the sweetspot of being very virulent and not dangerous enough to scare the big one out of enough people (like ebola).

I for one am extremely happy with the vaccines. And to top it off: always free wifi after I got thr shot. Have NO idea why ;-)

Have contracted covid twice. The first time when Omikron first emerged and within 2 weeks after getting my booster. I would not have known I was ill, if not for my daughter having a mild fever. Last time around was more than a year after my last shot and that was not much fun. But I have a lot of allergies during the grass season, so no biggie ;-)

I'm into week five of round two of this Chibson of viruses. Last time it took about 12 months to fully clear up...long covid I guess it's called. This time was no less intense with the symptoms, the weakness was pretty invasive, especially trying to use this walker, and yes, the brain fog thing was a new one. This variant is already in 25 states and is said to be more contagious, but supposedly weaker. Having had it a couple times now, I believe, will actually be a long-time benefit.

I just got the new vaccine two days ago. I'm immunosupressed and teach at a small college (another version of a germ factory). I wear a mask until it's time to start class. Got it once a last year, I was not really that sick, but I give credit to keeping up with the vaccines, they may not totally prevent it, but they make the symptoms not as bad - at least that was my experience.

I had my second bout 3 weeks ago. It was more like a bad head cold for me. I’m still waiting for thr prescription my doctor wrote. We know it’s going to be a rough season, because lagevrio has been on back order for the last 5 weeks. By the way, the purpose of a vaccine is to raise our antibodies and either keep us from dying or diminish the effects. There is no magic bullet.

However you are and I know this is a divisive theme, and I know there are scientists who raise questions (also their job), but there is no way it is "absolutely proven".

And congressional hearings - regardless of your country of origin - are very rarely a scientific argument for (or against) an normal issue, let alone a very devisive and political sensitive topic. I am saying that from my professional experience as a government employee.

But hey, lets all rejoice that it is not longer mocking up our hospitals the way it did.

With all due respect, you just haven't paid close enough attention. Not only was it proven, with documents, but Fauci perjured. Nothing will come of it, of course. All these people are protected.
