Could use some help on PRS type pickups.

So i really want a PRS but i don't have that much to spend. so i want either a Se custom 24 or a SE ZM i play a lot of alternative rock, ton of Phish type stuff and some grungeyish stuff every now and then. I played the PRS custom 24 and loved it the only thing is the pickups didn't have enough life in them and i cant afford $300 on a set of PRS pickups so i still want something similar, Something open, lively, a bit of warmth in the neck with a lot of sustain. Any suggestions? Also How is the ZM? been looking to play one but couldn't find on anywhere! Thanks for help!

I would say, if you can, wait a little...save some extra$ and go for a used S2. In the long run it's better and has a much nicer neck profile. There are many open box deals at guitar center and musicians friend, eBay etc..
The S2 standard and 24 are both really nice. I think it's a guitar you will keep for a much longer time.
